What We Do

A personal history can be a book, a set of audio tapes, a collage of photos and sayings, a film – the options are limited only by your imagination and desires.

The style and format is up to you. A personal history can be a gifted item with a “historical” sepia look and feel that gives a feeling of age and history, or a memoir, CD or DVD with a cover or case that has a more colorful, modern look – much like the professionally produced items one sees at book stores and movie outlets.

Some of the forms a personal history might take:

a small chapter book containing a family member's photos, favorite sayings and stories
a memoir containing his or her life story as told by the subject him/herself or the loving family
a compilation of family movies, supplemented by narration and music
a documentary covering the subject's life, including footage, old and new photos, recordings, interviews with family members, and more

Our Process

At PersonalHistoriesNY.com and PersonalHistorianNY.com you will find friendly, empathetic and professional service, folks who have decades of experience in a variety of creative fields. We will spend whatever time you need helping you to determine the right avenue to travel in your personal history journey.

Once decided, we will interview the subject. Depending upon the desired result, this process can be as short as a few hours, or as long as several weeks. If time or distance require, you always have the option of recording your own history on tape, for us to transcribe.

Once your history is recorded, we will make a backup and return your original to you. We will then begin the process of producing your unique personal history. We will periodically show you our work, for you to approve or amend. This way, we will all be confident that we are producing exactly what you hope for and expect.

Just as pricing varies, we can also vary the terms of payment. We suggest you tell us about your needs so that we can find the pricing plan that suits you best.
